VITAMIN B2

DESCRIPTION 

Vitamin B2 or riboflavin is a water-soluble vitamin and one of the few vitamins to be made within the body by the intestinal flora ! However, it is not produced in sufficient quantity to meet the needs of the organism and is not stored, hence the need to consume daily via food.

 

ROLE:

Vitamin B2 participates in energy production, contributing to the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. It also helps protect the body against oxidative stress.

 

SOURCES: 

Food sources are quite extensive but it is found in large quantities in organ meats, dairy products, salmon, brewer's yeast, hazelnuts, seaweed.

 

ANECDOTE: 

The term "Riboflavin" refers to the type of sugar it contains (ribose) and its yellow color "Flavin" meaning yellow in Latin. It is also used as a yellow food coloring, in the food industry under the numbers E101a or E106.

 

COMPLEMENTATION & CONTRAINDICATION:
